Growing Places gratitude for Freemason donation

Today (24 November), Ken Johnson from the Downshire Lodge of Berkshire Freemasons presented a cheque of £1000 to the Growing Places scheme for adults with learning disabilities.

Growing Places is a horticultural project based at Stratfield Turgis, near Basingstoke, and forms part of the day service provided by Acorn Community Centre in Wokingham.

It aims to promote independence and build confidence by developing skills in gardening.

Jeremy Clements, Optalis Operational Lead, said: “We are delighted Downshire Lodge has made this donation to Growing Places. The project is hugely popular with our customers and provides a fantastic opportunity for them to reap the rewards of learning a new skill in a different setting. We extend our warmest thanks and promise to put the money to good use.”

Representatives from both organisations, as well as customers of Growing Places, were present to celebrate the donation.
