Optalis has two services which are community based:

  • Homecare - this is a service for Older Adults living with dementia. The main purpose of this service is to support our customers living within their own homes.
  • Short Term Assessment and Reablement Team (START) – this is a reablement service of up to six weeks (maximum) where people are supported with regaining confidence and independence in their own homes, following a hospital discharge, illness or accident. This team also works as an assessment service.

Both of these services cover the Wokingham Borough

We are looking for support workers to promote our values and to support our customers to live happy and content lives. You will be assisting with personal care, medications, nutrition needs and domestic tasks. Skills can be taught in the care industry, so experience is not essential. These roles are community based and you must have a full driving license and daily use of a vehicle.

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic support workers to work in our unique Independent Living Service (ILS) supporting people with Learning Disabilities who live in their own home. We have services in the Wokingham Borough, including Barkham, Winnersh and Ryeish Green. For this role you need to be a car driver with use of a vehicle, and some houses have a manual transmission ‘house vehicle’ which you may be required to drive. As ILS is a very diverse service, for the right candidate, we may consider a non-care driver for an exceptional candidate. You need to be creative especially in the use public transport in order to support our customers with their daily needs. The hours for this role can vary depending on the customers care packages, but tend to start from 7am-3pm or 3pm-10pm (full-time support workers will have to be available for at least one sleep in every 7-10days, depending on the service). You will receive a comprehensive induction and on-going training programme, as well as regular supervision to ensure you are fully equipped to support our customers. You will also have the support of a Registered Manager and large staff team including Deputy Managers and Senior Support Workers. Mokattam is a 6 room residential house for working age adults living with learning and/or physical disabilities. Optalis is currently recruiting two full-time support workers to join their Mokattam house to provide person-centred care to the individuals living in the house. The working shifts are usually 7am – 3pm or 2pm-10pm, with some waking nights available. Optalis is looking for someone who is able to work within the team and able to shift lead where required. 6 months experience working in a relevant field is desired. This role requires someone who holds a full, clean UK driving license and is prepared to drive on company business and able to drive a manual vehicle.

As an employment support worker, you will join an exciting and dynamic service which provides employ ability support for individuals covered by the disability provision of the equality act 2010.

You will support the transition team lead in delivering a ground breaking supported employment course, whilst working closely with individuals to help them achieve their employment goals and aspirations.

This role is diverse and dynamic and your tasks will range from supporting a course tutor in our skills studio (Employability Group Sessions), supporting clients apply for jobs, assisting clients with interview preparation, supporting clients in the workplace, keeping records up to date of client engagement, updating course statistics, preparing resources for the course tutor and assisting with ad hoc tasks as they arise.

The post holder must hold a current driving license and have the daily use of a car.

Optalis has Extra Care Housing for Older Adults (some living with dementia) across the Wokingham Borough. We are looking for Care & Support Workers to come and join our teams to help us grow! Care & Support Worker roles entail providing care & support to our customers living in our Extra Care Housing according to their person centred care plans. This can include tasks such as personal care, nutrition, medication and domestic. Experience is not essential as we provide a full induction training course before you embark on your Care & Support Worker role. If you pride yourself on having a caring nature, able to handle responsibility and use your own initiative then we want to hear from you.  We have vacancies in the following services:

Due to the nature of some of our customers care needs, we are looking for candidates that drive and have access to their own vehicles, mileage is paid at 45p per mile.

Joining the closely knit LD team based in Wokingham, this rewarding and exciting role will mean you’ll work with adults with a range of learning disabilities. We’ll be looking to you to provide support, and guidance to develop their life skills and lead independent lives.  This involves enabling them to take part in community activities, whilst ensuring that their individual needs are met, and, most importantly, to help them enjoy their lives! Experience of working with this client group would be beneficial but not essential.

You’ll need to be aged 21 or over to apply in order to drive our manual vehicles.

Hillside is a supported living scheme which supports working age adults in order to maintain their independence and promote social inclusion. We are looking for compassionate and caring people with at least 6months experience of working with people living with learning disabilities. Other than providing support services, you would be responsible for managing the buildings systems whilst on duty and being responsible for dealing with situations as they arise, this role will include lone working and sleep in duties.

You must hold a full, clean UK driving license and be willing and able to drive a manual vehicle.
