Community Lives Celebrates Inclusion and Creativity in Windsor and Maidenhead

Community Lives in Windsor and Maidenhead held a day showcasing their diverse and inclusive day opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. The event at Boyn Grove Community Centre was designed to ensure that everybody, regardless of their needs, could be part of the day’s activities. A celebration of creativity, fun, and exploration, the event welcomed people of all abilities to come together and experience a great day. From sensory spaces for relaxation to interactive music sessions that encouraged personal expression, everyone had the chance to discover something new in a supportive and welcoming environment.

The activities, such as "Glow Your Own Way" and "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" provided opportunities for people to explore all of their senses.

Jade added, "I liked the snow from Going on a bear hunt the best."

The "Music to My Own Beat" session, where people could create their own rhythms, and learn new musical techniques, was another highlight that provided a platform for self-expression through music. And for those who enjoyed more active experiences, there were the trampoline sessions in "Rebound".

Laina said, "I loved making a clay poppy, being in the music session, all of it was good fun and I was really tired at the end of the day."

What stood out most about the day was the sense of inclusion. The team ensured that everyone could participate, providing an environment where people could try new things, express themselves freely, and feel a sense of belonging. The emphasis was on creating a day that was not only enjoyable but also accessible to all.
