MP Theresa May visits 'Men in Sheds' community in Maidenhead

Men in Sheds Maidenhead is based at Boyn Grove Community Centre and offers a welcoming space for like-minded people enjoy mending, making and companionship. Optalis Community Lives services, who are also based in Boyn Grove Community Centre regularly enjoy working at the site. The groups work closely together enjoying each other's company and sharing practical interests such as wood working, gardening and creating recycled projects. Men in Sheds promotes the benefits of social connections, sharing skills and knowledge, and being outdoors in the fresh air, whatever your ability or background.

Recently, volunteers from Men in Sheds were joined by regular supporters from Optalis to welcome Rt Hon Theresa May MP to the Maidenhead Men in Sheds site. The group took the opportunity to show Mrs May the raised beds, woodworking areas and recently added level paths, helping open the site to people of all abilities.

Over the years the site has developed into a friendly community space, with raised beds allowing a wide range of people to enjoy working in the soil and help contribute towards growing fruit and vegetables for the community, who are invited to pick these when they are ready. The group have ambitions to continue to develop the site and expand the facilities.
