Focussed Friends Deliver Easter Cheer to Patients at Wokingham Hospital

Focussed Friends is a group of people with learning disabilities who meet at the Optalis Wokingham Community Lives day service. They talk about local issues, discuss how they can play a part in their community. This April they wanted to brighten the Easter weekend for those spending the holiday in hospital. A total of 48 Easter eggs were gifted—each one carefully tagged with handmade messages of get well wishes and kindness. Anne and Louis, members of the group explained "It’s important to us that people show kindness."

The donation was made possible thanks to a joint effort between members of Focussed Friends who raised funds to purchase eggs, and a generous contribution from Morrisons. Kelly Story, Senior Activity Support Organiser said, "Gemma the Customer Champion from Morrisons has been very supportive by donating over half the Easter eggs needed, we are very grateful to Morrisons for helping us deliver this Easter treat for patients."

Jonathan, a member of the group added, "Thank you to Optalis and Morrisons for helping Focussed Friends deliver Easter gifts once more, I felt proud of everyone when we walked into the Ward."

The eggs were handed over to the hospital with members of Focussed Friends present to share their warm wishes and personally deliver the gifts. Paula, a member of the group said, "I hope the eggs made people smile."
