Clive’s Year of Reconnection and Adventure
05 September 2025
Clive leads a busy and fulfilling life. He enjoys playing computer games, working out, and volunteering at a charity shop. Over the past year, his life has become even richer, with a dream holiday and more time spent with family.
Recently, Clive’s mother moved closer to him. With support from his team, he’s been able to visit her more often. While they’ve always stayed in touch by phone and met up on special occasions, living nearby has made regular visits possible, with both Clive and his mother visiting each other.
During one of their recent visits, Clive was thrilled to receive an early birthday gift.
“I love my brand new yoyo,” he said. “I’m going to see Mum tomorrow. I love all of my family. I’m enjoying my life.”
Clive also visited his sister Angela in Cornwall last December, his first time seeing her since 2017.“I went on holiday for half a week,” he shared.
One of the biggest highlights of the past six months was a trip to Scotland, a lifelong dream come true. With help from his team at Optalis Loddon Court Outreach, Clive planned and enjoyed a week-long holiday.
“I went on another holiday. We saw Loch Ness Lake. I’m interested in mysteries and the Loch Ness Monster,” he said.
“When I was a kid, I said to my sister Angela, I’d like to go to Loch Ness.”
Jo, his support worker, added, “It’s great to see Clive living his dream.”
Looking ahead, Clive already has his sights set on another adventure. “I’d like to go on another holiday. I want to go to Hastings, to see the coast, visit a shop, the sea life, and a café.”
