A Happy Move for Jane

Jane moved into her new home in Maidenhead last month. Having lived in her previous home for 11 years, she was a little unsure about how she would settle in. As it turned out, she had nothing to worry about.

Lisa, who supports Jane, said that she was very quiet on her first day, but it didn't take long for her confidence to grow. Now, it feels as though she's lived there for years.

Moving day was a real team effort. While Jane was out for the day, her family and support team rolled up their sleeves and moved all her belongings into her new room, making sure it was ready for her return. Jane had already chosen blush pink as her favourite colour for the walls, and with everything unpacked and in place, it quickly started to feel like her own place.

"I like it much better here," said Jane. "I have more space." 

These days, Jane enjoys a quieter pace of life and appreciates the calm atmosphere of her new home. She spends a few mornings each week taking part in activities with friends and enjoys coming back home afterwards to relax. 

She's also struck up a rapport with Danny, one of the independent living team members, who accompanies her on her weekly shopping trips and visits to the hair salon.

Jane enjoys being involved in everyday life at home. As part of her healthy eating plan, she helps choose the vegetables she'd like to eat, then pitches in with preparing them by washing, peeling and chopping them for the evening meal. 

Looking ahead, Jane and her support team are excited about the summer months, with outings planned, including a boat trip. 

Jane’s life has been so busy since moving in, she reflected "I like using my laptop to play games, but I haven't used it once." 

Her family have noticed a difference too. They say she seems happier and much chattier than before. Jane shared that she likes that the team make time for her and that she’s been enjoying the quality time they spend together. She agreed it feels like home already.
