Supported Housing Schemes

Through our supported housing schemes, Optalis staff support people with a learning disability to live as independently as possible in their own homes.

An easy guide to Supported Housing

Our team is here to help people live independently. We do this by encouraging people to do as much as they can for themselves. We support people to be responsible tenants, with our person-centred background support.

This includes:

Understanding correspondence
Filling in forms (for example, Benefits forms or a bus pass application)
Making health appointments
Making referrals (for example, for advocacy support or assistive technology)
Managing support arrangements (if the individual has a care provider, helping with other tasks)
Giving reminders ( for example, important dates or when to take medicine)
Making a complaint or helping resolve problems
Emotional support
Making housing related payments (for example setting up a Direct Debit for gas and electricity supply).
Sign-posting to other services and supports (for example, sourcing a tradesperson)
Arranging for property repairs (inside and outside the home)
Applying for adaptations to your property (for example, installing handrails or a wet room)
Helping to resolve neighbour disagreements

We support people who live at:

Oakfield Court:

A scheme consisting of 13 self-contained fully accessible bungalows. 10 offer single accommodation, two having two single bedrooms, and one offers a double bedroom. The scheme is primarily for people with a learning disability.

Hillside Supported Living:

A brand new, purpose-built set of 10 flats, primarily for people with a learning disability and/or on the autistic spectrum.

Loddon Court Flats

A scheme consisting of 9 flats, offering single accommodation. The scheme is primarily for people with a learning disability.
