Changes to the Sensory Needs Service
18 July 2014
Last year, Reading Borough Council and Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council gave notice of their intention to set up their own new, local services for people with visual and hearing needs. It means that from August 1, 2014, Optalis will only be providing their specialist sensory needs service to the residents of Wokingham Borough.
This has brought big changes for the Sensory Needs Team, and a great deal of work has been completed so that the transfer to the other unitary authorities runs smoothly.
On July 31, we say goodbye to Ann Vicars, Sharon Ucan, Connie Ellis, and Maureen Watts, who move onto pastures new.
Isabelle Redfern, Diane Shepherd, and Asha Gehlot will move to Reading Borough Council to set up a local service there within the Intermediate Care Service.
The Wokingham service will move to Optalis’ Care Brokerage and Professional Support Team, with Christine Moscrop, Rachel Higginson, Sarah Lenton, and Susan Culley. They will be available on the same phone numbers and email addresses as before.
