Celebrating Learning and Development at Optalis

The Learning and Development Team hosted their first ever Learning Celebration Lunch on 17th January, in recognition of our brilliant colleagues and their journey of continuous development. Team members from services across Optalis were invited to attend the event, to celebrate their achievements. The courses people have completed included: level 2 and 3 in Care, level 2 in Autism and Dementia, Trusted Assessors, as well as management qualifications.

David Birch, CEO, opened the event by emphasising the importance of training. He explained our commitment to support people at Optalis to achieve their professional goals. David, said “We want to create an environment where our people can grow a career with us, and if they choose to find another role within the Optalis family, they have the support and training to do so.”

David also acknowledged the Learning and Development Team and the work that has gone in to helping people with their professional development: “The team have done a great job of raising the profile of training throughout Optalis. They work hard to ensure that people have the training they want and need. This is reflected in our recent staff survey, with scores relating to training rising by 14%.”

At the event Joel Peria from START, reablement service, gave a short talk on the Trusted Assessor training he and his colleagues recently completed.

Certificates and goodie bags were presented to attendees, and some people shared their experience of their training. Donna from Allenby Road Supported Living said, “My advice to anyone wanting to do this training is to go for it, you know more than you think. Much of the course content covers the work that we are already doing day to day.”

The event ended with a delicious lunch, provided by Ability Catering.
