Cost of service (for non-Wokingham Borough residents)

Fees below are applicable to non-Wokingham Borough residents only. The service is free to Wokingham Borough residents.

Care Advisor (free of charge)

One hour free of charge home visit, without any follow up calls made or received, and no visits to providers. A telephone discussion or visit to help understand and establish the needs of the cared for person and possible options available.

Our Independent Care Broker will visit to help you understand your care needs and options. They will make suggestions about providers (home care or care homes). The discussion will include your finances and paying for care, and can include a referral to qualified financial advisors (free of charge - no obligation consultation).


Care Home Finder (£95 fixed fee or £25 per hour)

Consultation, care advice and care search Care Advisor level, plus - the Independent Care Broker will fully research all appropriate options, including care providers, and if required will send you a report with recommendations most suited to your situation. This could include a shortlist of care homes with current vacancies or at-home careproviders with capacity in your area, together with brochures and costs (if available). The Independent Care Broker will remain available for further follow up and advice, all within the agreed fee, for up to eight weeks from the initial meeting date. No provider visits.
 

Care Facilitator (£350 fixed fee or £25 per hour)

Advice and care search, plus vetting of vacancies

Advisor and Finder level of service combined, plus – our Independent Care Broker will visit care homes to view and assess vacant rooms on behalf of the customer. They can also arrange to interview potential at-home and live-in care providers. This service is especially useful for busy customers who have difficulty finding time to view all the options or for families based abroad. The Broker can accompany a family member to care home viewings, or interview potential live-in carers in the customer’s home. Copies of Care Quality Commission (CQC) reports and/or other relevant documents can be provided.
 

Care Facilitator PLUS (£400 fixed fee or £25 per hour)

Advice and care search, plus vetting of vacancies and care package review

This combines the previous level of service with a ‘settling-in’ review at approximately six weeks into the placement/service to which the customer, their family and the service provider would be invited. A comprehensive review document will be supplied and any issues identified will be followed up by the Independent Care Broker if required. (Maximum of 16 weeks involvement.)

Wellbeing Review (£65 for two-hour visit (maximum))

Additional time at £18 per half hour / Visit to care home/live-in care setting, and comprehensive care package review

Scheduled visit to an established placement (care home) or live-in care at-home placement, and a comprehensive review of the care package. The Broker will visit the customer, at an agreed, pre-arranged time, to carry out a detailed review of the whole care package appropriate in the care setting, and then provide a full written report with recommendations regarding current and future care provision. (A review looks at the care plan, medication sheets, food intake, activities, the condition of the room, clothing, staff levels, incidents, and much more.)

The Broker will report any matters of concern to the relevant local authority and/or governing body (CQC), and would follow up any matters arising from a visit to a provider directly with the care provider.

Can be booked by customer or family as and when required, e.g 3, 6, or 12 monthly. A discount of 20% is available for two or more pre-paid reviews booked at the same time.

Concerned Relatives Review (£295 for a three-hour visit (maximum))

Additional time charged at £18 per hour.

For concerned relatives and peace of mind: visit to care home and comprehensive care package review. A short notice review can be booked by the customer or their family at any time (subject to Independent Care Broker availability). The Broker will visit the customer at the service provider’s premises* if necessary, and carry out a detailed review of the whole care package (appropriate in the care setting). They will then provide a full written report with recommendations regarding current and future care provision.

The Broker will report any matters of concern to the relevant local authority and/or governing body (CQC), and would follow up any matters arising from a visit to a provider directly with the care provider.

*Optalis does not have right of entry to any premises without permission of the proprietor. This service does not replace anyone's right to contact the local authority with any concerns or the
obligation of the appropriate local authority, the provider, or the CQC to investigate appropriate referrals.
