This week is national Carers Week, aiming to raise awareness of caring and the challenges Carers face. Optalis is hosting a Cafe for Carers on Friday 19 June to offer support and a few hours respite.
The Woodley Day Service for adults with a learning disability welcomed over 70 clients, staff and members of the public to the official opening of their new base on Friday (27 February).
Our Day Service has organised many trips over the last couple of months - taking customers out to a variety of sights and activities!
April 28 to May 4 was national Good Care Week, and as part of the week-long celebrations at Optalis, teams across our sites decided to raise money for the MS Trust’s Be Bold In Blue campaign (also running during the exact same week).

On June 18 and 19, staff from Westmead arranged two barge trips for customers. They'd originally planned just one trip, but such was the interest we ended up booking two...!
The aim of the open day is to showcase the various services and activities to new customers and to allow them to meet and talk to current customers.
Optalis’ physical disability day service based at Westmead - in partnership with Westmead Support Group - held a Diamond Jubilee picnic at the centre on Wednesday May 30. The celebration was open to all Westmead customers and their family members and friends. As well as a number of activities on the day, including quizzes, a raffle, and games, there was also a tasty finger buffet picnic!
Linda Robson, Operational Team Manager at Optalis, recently organised a very successful Christmas raffle, which raised £210 for Wheels of Experience, a charity based in nearby Aldershot, Hampshire. The charity raises money to buy wheelchair-accessible motorhomes for disabled children.
