Gardening is a great way to make friends, learn new skills, be part of a team and get fresh air and exercise. It’s also really good fun!
Our day service has its own gardening and conservation area in the peace and quiet of Turgis Court Farm near Stratfield Saye. Here we work with the charity Growing Places Berkshire to help you grow fruit, vegetables and flowers in your own plot of ground. We will work with you to agree what your goals are, and how to achieve them.
You’ll develop gardening skills such as sowing seeds, taking cuttings, planting and mowing lawns. You may find yourself teaching gardening techniques to other people. We go on trips to botanical gardens and nature reserves, and have workshops where you can learn woodwork and other crafts.
You may want to eat what you grow, or perhaps take part in gardening competitions - it’s up to you!
Summer bedding, container plants, perennials and herbs produced by teams at Turgis Court Farm are sold at various venues and events around Wokingham, Woodley and Earley, including the garden centre at our own Acorn Community Centre.
