Our Sensory Needs Service

From August 1 2014, there will be a new, smaller Sensory Needs Team (Optalis) providing services to Wokingham residents only.   The team has a specialist Deafblind worker, social worker for Deaf and hard of hearing people, a rehabilitation worker for visually impaired people, and a specialist referral and assessment officer.

Please read on towards the end of this page for contact information if you are not a Wokingham Borough resident.

The team provide a variety of specialist support services to people with sensory loss to enable them to continue living as independently as possible.  They will carry out a specialist assessment to assess your situation and eligibility for services.

Services provided can include signposting, information and advice, benefits advice, specialist equipment,  mobility and orientation support, professional support, rehabilitation and personal budgets for ongoing support from services such as communication support or communicator guide.
