"October and November were both very busy months with nearly 90 customers receiving a service from us for a combination of reablement and assessment.
We have had some excellent successes over the last couple of months and this is down to the collaborative working within the Short-Term Assessment and Reablement Team and the Occupational Therapists who work with us to ensure that optimum results are achieved for all our customers.
December is here already, not sure how that happened, but we are definitely on the countdown to the festive period! Xmas is probably one of the busiest times of the year for our service, as there is constant pressure from hospitals which have the perennial issue of too many patients and not enough beds. They are also keen to ensure customers are home for Xmas if possible. This will limit the annual leave authorized over the period, but as usual the team are all willing to chip in and cover where necessary to ensure that we all get to spend quality time with our family and loved ones. So remember when you are tucking into our turkey and sprouts, our reablement assistants will be out on the frontline ensuring that all customers are safe and well and looked after on this special day. We also cover the on-call service for those days that the office is closed, and our senior carers will be on duty as normal ensuring that staff have the support and back up that they require and any issues are dealt with promptly.
We have welcomed a new member of the team who has been working within Optalis for some time and was looking for a new challenge. She has fitted in well and is enjoying the variety and fast pace of the service, which certainly keeps you on your toes with daily changes and the constant stream of new customers coming onto our service.
So may I wish you all a very Merry Xmas and a safe, healthy, prosperous and happy New Year! And if you are interested in a new job for the new year, we have vacancies in the START team. Join us now! www.optalis.org/jobs
