Optalis Focused Friends visit Wokingham Hospital and deliver a Hug in a Mug

On Tuesday 20 December representatives from Focused Friends dropped off 50 mugs containing festive goodies to the two older people wards Windsor and Ascot in Wokingham hospital.

The ‘Hug in a Mug’ initiative came from the Focused Friends group which consists of staff and customers across Woodley, Wokingham and Earley LD day services at Optalis who started a community project to benefit the local area last year.

‘Hug in a Mug’ was the group’s idea to reach out to people within the local community who may be feeling the effects of loneliness.

The photos show Focused Friends with Windsor and Ascot ward administrator Sally Malloy. They have given out the mugs to all the patients on the ward and those being discharged are taking one home with them. Feedback from the patients has been fantastic who were very touched by the gesture which really made their day.
